What is missing teeth/mapenge?
Also called tooth agenesis, missing a tooth is simply not having the right num ber of teeth whether congenital or environmental.
What are the congenital causes of missing teeth?
Its commonly associated with the group of skin and nerve syndromes called ectodermal dysplasia
Its categorized into;
- Anodontia(all are missing)
- oligodontia (more than six missing)
- Hypodontia (less than six missing) The most commonly missing teeth are the wisdom teeth, lower premolars and upper lateral incisors
What are the environmental causes of teeth loss?
- Periodontal diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis that loosens the gums and cause teeth to fall out

These use your existing teeth to support the missing tooth or teeth. Its completed in one or two visits it also provides a realistic look feel but less costly than an implant

Removable partial dentures
They are the simplest option to replace missing teeth
They are for individuals with a few missing teeth. And are easy to repair or replace They are uncomfortable since it requires to be removed and cleaned on a daily basis

Flipper and full dentures
Full dentures are for individuals with all missing or unpleasant teeth. Flippers are temporary dentures used incase a person isn’t financially ready for a more permanent solution
