A high-concentration peroxide gel is used in professional bleaching treatments. These strengths are not available over the counter.

In addition, a device is put in place to keep the lips and cheeks from contacting the professional-strength gel. Once applied, the whitening solution is allowed to penetrate for up to an hour. Brightening results are visible immediately.
Take-Home Whitening
Another way to brighten your smile is with take-home whitening kits. Although it will take longer, you can still achieve great whitening results on your own time. First, an impression will be taken of your teeth, and two custom-made mouth trays will be crafted of flexible plastic. Each bleaching tray will be filled with whitening gel and worn over your top and bottom teeth for about an hour.
There are many steps you can take to extend the results of teeth whitening treatment. Although each patient is different, results typically last from six months to two years or more. As always, maintain good oral hygiene habits, and regular dental visits. Stay away from staining foods and beverages like coffee, tea, and red wine and avoid tobacco use.
